He was a ?beautiful kid? with a bright future.
But now family members of 21-year-old Brett Wiese will be left to wonder what could have been after he was stabbed twice while apparently trying to break up a confrontation at a house-party early Saturday.
?This has come as a surprise to everyone,? said Brett?s uncle, Kip Wiese. ?He was at a house-party with his friends enjoying himself . . . it was the wrong place at the wrong time.?
Police report arriving to a home in the 5100 block of Brisebois Drive N.W. around 3 a.m. Saturday. Two people were rushed to hospital and one later died.
The other victim, a friend of Brett Wiese?s, was originally critical but his condition was upgraded Sunday, Kip said.
Police have informed the family they believe a group of people were sent away from the house party earlier in the night and as many as four individuals returned armed with knives.
Kip said he?s been informed that police have retained two suspects in custody, including one believed to be a minor.
Police tape surrounded the home where Calgary student Brett Wiese was killed over the weekend. From the street, a number of beer bottles could be seen stacked on a counter.
Police duty Insp. Patty McCallum said investigators will be ?working around the clock? and she expected more information on the incident to be released Monday.
